NIU Motorsports is a non-profit, student organized group funded by corporate and personal sponsorship.  Helping through monetary donations, material donations, or labor and knowledge is the foundation of the team’s success.  NIU Formula SAE is run much like a business, and it provides members with an opportunity to learn how to de-sign, market, and compete with a product of their own doing.  These valuable skills are only obtained outside the class-room, and make every member more knowledge-able, and this more marketable when starting their careers. Establishing a relationship with NIU Motorsports opens a pathway for networking, as well as a chance to allow NIU students to show their potential as future engineers. Sponsor’s logos are also displayed on the car’s body, team uniforms, and NIU Motorsports website, providing advertising throughout the year. The car is shown throughout the year on campus tours as well as public events in the Chicago-land area.
